October 7, 2004, half-day workshop on MEDIA TRAINING.  Agenda:   
8:30      Coffee and bagels available
9:00      Welcome, workshop objectives, and introduction of participants
9:15      Panel of experienced public affairs and media specialists:  Joan Embery, Lakeside; Chris Saunders, San Diego Sheriff’s Department; Monica Zech, El Cajon Fire Department; Dave Cohen, San Diego City Police (invited); Joan Wynn, Cleveland National Forest; and Roxanne Provaznik, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
Questions to ask them, in turn:
--What good can media coverage do, for your organization and cause? 
--Interests of print media, television, and radio (panel)
--Elements of press release and other information provided to media
--Preparing for media interviews and appearances, and follow-up

11:00   Panel of reporters.  Reflections on choosing and using key messages about wildfire recovery and preparedness.  We’ll start with the messages prepared for Earth, Wind & WILDFIRE exhibit; you can also bring your messages and get feedback on their effectiveness.
